Just Watched!

11 Jan

Well, here goes my first attempt to write my own movie review. Exciting! Troublesome. Maybe, just plain adventurous. I say yes to all these great adjectives. I just want to say, I am not an expert at movie reviews, but I too, have a voice. And when I come across a good or bad movie, I would like my voice to ring to the high heavens. I do not mean in any way to sound arrogant or belittling but just honest. Now to give you a heads up. I like movies a lot, so if I come across a bad movie, that is indeed, a rare occurrence.

Just Watched: “Julie & Julia”

I must say this was a warm dessert to end my winter splendid day. “Julie & Julia” is a loving film that captures Julie Powell  (Amy Adams) an aspiring writer in her efforts to take on infamous cook Julia Child (Meryl Streep) by cooking all 536 recipes in one year from Julia Child’s first book “Mastering the Art of French Cooking”.

I will not give away any ending to this wonderful home-cooked delight, but I will say this, Julie Powell has in fact transformed my way of thinking about my own personal blog (www.bernardtalks.com). Like Julie Powell, I too, started a blog. How far this blog could go is still decided upon faith.

Similar to Julie Powell, she did not know who was reading her blog and where it would take her in life, but she was dedicated to finishing what she had started.

Ms. Powell did have her ups as well as her downs in her attempts to cook every meal exactly as Julia Child had done. Unlike Julie, I am not attempting to cook every recipe of a cookbook, but I am trying to have a forum to communicate and inspire others to dream bigger then what may typically be in front of them. My goal is to become a talk show host and to help those who may not have the necessary guidance to achieve their own personal dreams. I guess you could say I am like a coach and teacher rolled into one.

This movie has truly given me the motivation to continue this blog and to allow destiny the freedom to bake its own cake of perfection with my life. All I ask in return is to give people the inspiration that I have been given and I believe that becoming a talk show host will do just that.

“Julie & Julia” will have you laughing, cooking ,and even thinking about boning a duck. Yes, boning duck may sound rather unpleasant. However, the art of cooking in Julia Child’s case calls for one cup of pure adventure!

The New York Times says

“Julie & Julia” proceeds with such ease and charm…

Ruth Hessey from MovieTime, ABC Radio National claims

Ebullient, witty, and wonderfully warm-hearted Julie & Julia is a celebration of how to live life to the full.

Here is the “Julie & Julia” trailer that will have you craving more than your regular sweets and midnight snacks!

Like Julia Child would say “Bon appétit!”

Howdy, I really enjoyed this post. I’m starting up a site and making somewhat varied content. Do you object if I blog something about this? Obviously I will provide you and this site due acknowledgment and add a link to this page , thank you.
