Call Free with Google Voice

25 Aug

Amazing news!

Google has now produced Google Voice which is like Skype when it comes to calling but nothing like it because you can call anywhere in the U.S and Canada for free to any landline and mobile phone with Google Voice! International calls are however not free.  I tried it a few moments ago and I must say I loved it!

You must have a Google Account to use this feature.

I called my mom and then I called my friend in South Dakota. Amazing! A Pop-Up window shows at the bottom of your screen similar to the video and regular chat windows and presto a dial pad is shown and you just have to enter the number either by pressing the numbers with your mouse or by typing them in with your keyboard.  The quality was amazing! And best part is that it does not cost you a single penny.

So you have Gmail–well the “Call Phone” is directly linked with all your contacts in your address book for emails! All your calls are kept in a history folder by clicking on the little mini clock shown in the pop-up or by viewing your called credits for international calls. A sweet deal in case you can’t find your cell phone!

I am sooo excited about this feature because I was so worried about paying to use Skype for calls now, but all I have to do now is dial U.S. and Canadian numbers on my laptop and start talking to my computer. Can I say once more– FREE! Oh the magic in the computer world!

I tried this out last night. The internal antenna in my cell phone is dying, so I’m getting spotty reception at best. Google Voice saved the day!
