Bernard Eats: Shadyside businesses bridging their October traffic
by Bernard-Charles
The fall leaves are here so are the smells of tea and spices that stream our noses. But what about our taste buds and shopping dollars for the season? Besides just dropping by your favorite shop in Shadyside tonight, you can try food from the area while you shop from 5-8 P.M. for Taste on Walnut. The event is FREE, but my window shopping skills usually crack on-site.
The producer of Taste on Walnut is Pittsburgh’s own TABLE Magazine:
TABLE is your magazine dedicated to celebrating food culture and lifestyle in Pittsburgh and Southwestern Pennsylvania. What we “bring to the TABLE” as a community is what makes our region and each of our neighborhoods, traditions, lives and stories so unique. TABLE is where we come together to share our passion for food, life, quality and good health.
Each store is paired up with a restaurant to give you as the shopper a joint experience while you support small businesses. Who doesn’t love free food?
I am so excited to attend the event and to check out stores and restaurants that I haven’t even known existed. And if I am taking the trip to Shadyside then you best believe that I am making an appearance at my all-time favorite new age store, Journeys of Life!
Journeys of Life is having some delightful appetizers and drinks provided by UP Modern Kitchen, formerly known as the Walnut Grille. So while I shop for the next New Age book or crystal healing tool, I need to try to remember to taste UP Modern Kitchen’s treats, who knows, the modern flair might align the belly and wallet.
And before you think it couldn’t get any better, Journeys of Life is accepting donations of canned goods and money to give to EECM Food Pantry, Pittsburgh’s East End Cooperative Ministry. The positive vibes are definitely giving me a great taste about this event already!
There is quite a bit of good spirit for Taste on Walnut and you should definitely come on by to help support the community. It’s Thursday after all!
