I went to Steel City Con before I left Pittsburgh and was blown away by all the vintage toy vendors, artists, and comic book enthusiasts. Even had a chance to see Elvira. Although being in the presence of so much creativity was awesome, I was excited to meet the author of M3, Erica Schultz. She was brightly amused by the pop culture event and shared her comic industry wisdom that I simply ended up purchasing 2 first issues of M3. Here I am giving one away. Not to mention, she was humble enough to sign the issues so you get a signed copy!

M3 won Best Comic Book at the 2012 Burbank International Film Festival and this particular comic is about:

…assassin Machiavella Maria Marcona as she escapes FBI custody and ticks names off her hit list.
Relentlessly following her is FBI analyst Christopher Morris whose own past has crossed with Machiavella’s many years ago.

I am always up for a strong female character as it shows with my Sandra Bullock taste. But enough about me, what about entering to win a signed copy of M3.

Leadership book in Pittsburgh photoThis weekend I had the opportunity to attend the 2nd annual Student Empowership conference at Carlow University. It was a free event that teaches students and young professionals how to be active and engaging leaders in their communities.

Ali McMutrie, founder of Haitian Families First, spoke at the conference during lunch and it suddenly occurred to me that this genuine soul and her sister appeared on Ellen in March. Now, we all know how awesome Ellen is and if they made it on the show then there is a story to be heard. (Those tutu toddlers are a different story though.)

Ali shared her story like many of the other speakers and I was astounded that Pittsburgh sprouted so many wonderful souls that I haven’t stumbled upon before. I had to constantly hold back my enthusiasm and if I didn’t; I would be cheering so loud and it would be rather disrespectful. But things like this make me feel so empowered. Why should I keep it all to myself?

To share this joy of Pittsburgh and leadership with one of my lucky followers, I managed to get an extra copy of Empowered in Pittsburgh.
