Ellen DeGeneres and JC Penney Partnership Inspires LGBTQA Youth

11 Feb

It goes to show that America’s most beloved talk show host can get grief from haters, but what does it mean for struggling youth. Do they really have hope even if their idols are belittled by homophobic hate?

JC Penney was recently criticized for choosing EllenDeGeneres as their spokesperson. And One Million Moms is the thorn causing all the negativity. The boisterous whiners claim on their online site that JC Penney is simply pulling a monkey see monkey do act.

By jumping on the pro-gay bandwagon, JC Penney is attempting to gain a new target market and in the process will lose customers with traditional values that have been faithful to them over all these years.

It doesn’t take a detective to understand JC Penney’s new direction for wanting to expand their target market. Why OMM do you have to present it like the store wants to act in secret. Companies like to expand their market. This means more money. I personally would love to expand and gain more dollars.

This is not DeGeneres’ first spokesperson job. Do you remember when she was working the camera for COVERGIRL? I don’t think COVERGIRL users stopped loving the makeup when DeGeneres appeared as the anti-aging model and sure enough they didn’t.

According to United Entertainment Group (the marketing agency that assisted with COVERGIRL campaigns with Taylor Swift,  Queen Latifah, and Ellen DeGeneres)  the relationship between COVERGIRL and DeGeneres was “unique and unexpected.”

We quickly built a strong relationship with Ellen’s team that enabled the brand to get the most out of the partnership and create a ground breaking campaign that drove a magnitude of sales growth not seen since in previous years.

My case is affirmed.

Now what does this mean for the LGBTQA youth who look up to DeGeneres. Well, there is always hope and DeGeneres shared her points on this matter Tuesday by publishing this YouTube video.

Here are the values I stand for: I stand for honesty, equality, kindness, compassion, treating people the way you want to be treated, and helping those in need…

These values that DeGeneres stands for should bring all youth together because love is certainly stronger than the societal chains of homophobia and bullying. If Ellen is your idol and inspiration, then I encourage you to stand up for what you believe in and not back down from people like One Million Moms.

Walmart shopping leads to mother and son time

2 Jan

For the first day of the new year, I and my mom along with my brother took a late night shopping trip. Our first destination was Best Buy so I could purchase the latest iPod touch 4G and then we decided to go to Walmart. My mom needed groceries, while I wanted to buy a new case for my new iPod along with an iTunes gift card so that I can buy some amazing apps. Little did I know that I didn’t bring my cellphone along, but instead my flip video camera! So enjoy the video and comment below if you have fun in Walmarts too!

Nashville radio personality wants to be me

29 Dec

Friend or Foe

Certainly the world amazes me in its funny ways. For example it shows me the talented and one and only Ellen DeGeneres. Then it fills my head with inspiration to be just like her, but in my own special way. Yet, the world forgets to tell me that it might also be steering another Ellen-Guru in the same direction. His name–Intern Adam.

Mission: Adam on Ellen.

On-air personality for Nashville’s 107.5 The River radio station, Intern Adam is campaigning himself to make a debut appearance on The Ellen DeGeneres Show or work as her Nashville correspondent. Certainly, the jealousy and the complete rage that fills my mind, body, and spirit is too great and I must now write down my thoughts and opinions about this Ellen-loving copycat.

He is absolutely, hands-down, a complete sneaky genius for thinking of this idea and executing it before me. Yes, that is the honest truth. I had the idea, but Adam is older and he has already established himself in the industry by being a radio personality. Plus he has so many followers. On Facebook alone he has two thousand six hundred and eighty-eight fans! I am surprised that Ellen DeGeneres did not already snatch up his little ‘ole heart and make his wildest fantasies come true. Okay, okay–I mean to say his most well-deserved campaign successful.

Besides his beloved Facebook followers, there are famous people. Yes, famous people that have pushed for Ellen to take him under her wing. The list is astronomical! Okay, not really that big, but the quality of the people is HUGE and the quantity could be better for all technical purposes.

-Faith Hill
-Adam Lambert
-Tim McGraw
-Miley Cyrus
-The Jonas Brothers
-Wynonna
-Kelly Rowland
-Sean Kingston
-Justin Bieber
-Jordin Sparks
-Perez Hilton
-Cobra Starship
-Lady Antebellum
-Jake Owen
-Josh Turner

Did I just see Justin Bieber on this list! WOAH!! Now come on, there are a whole lot of tireless girls that love Justin and his music. Plus so many make fun of Justin; he is famous just for looking like a lesbian. Now to be all politically correct, Justin Bieber isn’t a lesbian, but the jokes have mature men and women across the board talking about this kid from Canada. Isn’t that enough?  Hmm, sounds like The Beatles all over again with the girls going star-crazy–Now wait Bieber kinda looks like a Beatle with his swoopy hair. That’s another story for another time.

Intern Adam certainly is making his rounds in the world of fame and Ms. DeGeneres will certainly see him shine soon enough. My advice is to keep running and spreading the campaign like wildfire because Adam has the Bieber supporting and maybe try sending  Ellen’s little Bieber duplicate, Greyson Chance to put in a good word or two.

Cheers my fellow friend on an adventure worth striving towards!
