Calling all ladies with a voice!

19 Jan

So, you wanna be famous?

Avon is doing more than just selling make-up…

Avon Voices is Avon’s first-ever global online singing talent search for women and songwriting competition for men and women.  A panel of celebrity judges, including Fergie, Natasha Bedingfield, Sheila E., Diane Warren and more are on hand, providing singing tips and helping select our finalists.

And if you are picked as a finalist, you’ll get the chance to TRAVEL (takes care of that vacation resolution) to Hong Kong, Rio de Janiero, Paris, Hollywood, New York or Nashville, plus PHOTO AND VIDEO SHOOTS, a PROFESSIONAL MAKEOVER and coaching (feeling oh so pretty).  The best part is, the winners may get the opportunity record a professionally produced album (the whole world will now hear you).

How to Enter

It takes 30 seconds.  Record a video of you singing 30 seconds of a hit song from the approved list that you can do right from your home.  It’s a year-long competition but you only have until February 13, 2011 to submit a 30-second video clip at www.avonvoices.com.

This program benefits the Avon Foundation for Women’s global campaign to end violence against women and girls.

Offensive content traffics 10,000 views?

27 Jul

Hey one and all,

Well a little known fact WordPress…this blogosphere allows you to view your own blog stats! Absolutely free! And this is why I love WordPress!

Great– that little known fact is done, now onto the post! Yes folks!

So, I was diving into my blog stats and came across my top posts over the year and Number #1 on my list of Top Posts: Search Engine Ran Off The Track of Expression

Can someone please tell me why this post of all of my other posts gets the glory? Well the content  of it is rather compelling and forces many people to make their own judgments and considerations for images being distributed over the internet and Google is involved.

Remember that offensive image of Michelle Obama being depicted as an ape? Well, that topic is what made this aspiring talk show host famous on January 4, 2010 with nearly 15,000 views on that single post!

Can anyone please tell me why that post has to be the thrill of my 15 minutes? Well, I did not delete the post or remove the picture simply because I believe blogging allows people to express their views and opinions. So, I took the news around this image and wanted to tell people about it. Inform them if you will and engage some conversation. Well, to my absolute astonishment people commented. Well, I knew they would, but really why does the public think I am the naughty one.

Education has its price.

Looking back on it, I am thrilled to have so many come and check out my blog, but then I am ashamed that it had to deal with a topic that so many people are sensitive too.

Well, the good, the bad, and the ugly can come in many different sizes and locations.
